Impressed: Prints from the Permanent Collection
Impressed: Prints from the Permanent Collection showcased selected prints from the Tyler Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection. The collection feature different styles and methods found in the printmaking process.

A Pop of Color: Works by Jeffie Brewer
The A Pop of Color exhibition places a focus on the works of Texas artist Jeffie Brewer. His work encapsulates the concept of Pop-Art through bright colors, renders of iconic figures, and clean designs. Brewer’s work has shown internationally in Mexico and Japan.
The exhibition is currently open, and it will close on January 14, 2024.

Educational Activities and Events
Family Day: In Person
The Tyler Museum of Art’s Family Day program is held every second Saturday of the month from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the museum. The event will have art activities for children and students of all ages, art books to read for all ages, coloring pages of the museum’s permanent collection, and snacks. All art activities are compliant with the TEKS. Additionally, all Family Day participants will get free admission to the exhibitions.
For November, the art activity will be a colorful zentangle leaf design. The event will be held at the museum on November 11th, 2023 between 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

TMA Lesson Plans for Elementary, Middle School, and High School
Lesson Plan: Mary Bonner, Washing Day
This lesson plan contains the National Learning Standards for Visual Arts and the Texas TEKS for Elementary, Middle, and High School art teachers. The class will study Mary Bonner’s etching titled Washing Day. Then, the students will write a critical response, where they will examine why an artist would choose to hand-color a print instead of creating a series of color plates.

Elements and Principles of Design
This lesson plan and following activity defines each of the principles and elements of design. Art examples of each element and principle are included with the vocabulary words. The artworks used in the lesson are from the Tyler Museum of Art’s permanent collection.

Student Exhibitions:
2023 Día de los Muertos Exhibition
The Día de los Muertos Middle School Exhibition is an annual event held at the TMA. Students between the grade levels of 5th grade – 8th grade are eligible to create artworks in their classrooms that celebrate the cultural festivities of Día de los Muertos.
The exhibition is free and currently open to the public until November 5, 2023. The museum held a reception for the event on October 29, 2023.
This year, 27 schools, 35 teachers, and a total of 687 students from 7 counties in the East Texas area participated in the exhibition.
