Coreen Spellman Exhibition:
Works on Paper
The Coreen Spellman Exhibition will present Coreen Spellman’s works on paper that display abstract landscapes and unique uses of shape, line, and monochromatic tones.
The exhibition will be open between September 12th, 2021 and December 5th, 2021.

Building a Legacy II:
Selections from the Permanent Collection
The Building a Legacy II exhibition celebrates the Tyler Museum of Art’s 50th anniversary. It showcases various art mediums and styles that reside in our permanent collection.
The exhibition will be open until October 24th, 2021.

Educational Activities and Events
Family Day To Go Packets
Each second Saturday of the month, the TMA creates a free take-home-packet for students ranged from kindergarten to 12th grade. It includes themed art activities, art supplies, and a snack. All of the activities are compliant with the TEKS.
For September, the packets will be focusing on heroes such as: firefighters, first responders, doctors, etc. The packets will be available for pick-up at the museum on September 11th, 2021.

New Lesson Plan and Video:
Otis Lumpkin’s “The Yellow Fireplug”
This lesson plan contains the Texas TEKS for Elementary, Middle, and High School art teachers. The lesson plan discusses the use of figures and architecture to create a specific mood in a composition. The lesson plans are posted every two – three weeks on the TMA Education Blog. A video discussing this work will be available on our website and YouTube channel in September.

Planning a School Tour
If you are interested in scheduling a tour for your students at the museum, please contact ranthony@tylermuseum.org and provide the following information: the grade level, the number of students who will attend, and three days in your class schedule that are available for the tour.

Student Exhibitions
2021 Middle School
Day of the Dead Art Exhibition
The Day of the Dead Middle School Art Exhibition is an annual event held at the TMA. Middle school students create artworks in their classrooms that celebrate the cultural festivities of Día de los Muertos. The artwork will be exhibited in the museum’s classroom and lobby.
The goal of this event is to showcase student artwork and encourage middle school students to learn more about Mexico’s culture and festivities.
Middle school teachers need to email the museum at ranthony@tylermuseum.org to let the education department know you want to participate in the event.
Middle school teachers need to bring their student’s artwork to the museum between October 13th, 2021 and October 20th, 2021.
